    CADD Solis Bag Change 

     

    Supplies needed for IV bag change:

     

    IV medication bag                   AA batteries (4)                       Gloves

    CADD Solis pump                    Saline syringes                        Pump tubing set                      Alcohol wipes (4)

     

    Infusion bag: remove from fridge 1-2 hours before.

    Verify bag label for correct name and expiration date.

     

     

    1. Prepare clean surface. Wash hands. Set up SAS 3-step protocol.

    2. Prepare saline syringe flushes: break the seal, open cap & push air out.

    3. Put on gloves. Complete assembly of the new tubing (bag & tubing w/cassette).

    4. To STOP PUMP: press stop/start button. When “stop pump?” appears, press ‘Yes’.

    5. Close all tubing clamps, clamp PICC port and disconnect tubing from clear cap.

    6. Open the silver cassette latch on pump to remove the old cassette.

    7. Replace batteries, turn pump on. WAIT for series of 6 beeps.

    8. Latch new cassette onto pump by inserting cassette hooks into hinge pins “nooks” on pump. Press down on cassette so it fits tightly against the pump. Lock by pulling latch upward.

    9. If latched correctly, Pump beeps, top of screen briefly shows, “Standard Admin Set Latched”.

    10. ‘Reset Reservoir Volume?’ Press ‘Yes’ button.

    11. ‘Prime Tubing?’ appears: Press ‘Yes’ button. Screen says: Disconnect tubing from patient, open clamps, then press ‘Prime’.

    12. Continue to prime until fluid reaches end of tubing, then press ‘Stop Priming’.

    13. ALWAYS clean PICC port cap for 15 seconds with alcohol prep before tasks.

    14. Connect SALINE flush, unclamp PICC port and flush the line, using “push-pause”.

    15. Clean PICC port again with alcohol swab for at least 15 seconds.

    16. Connect medication infusion tubing to PICC by pushing in & turn to right.

    17. Press Start/Stop button on pump: ‘Start Pump?’ appears on pump, Press ‘Yes’.

    18. Screen will show green ‘RUNNING’ in middle upper screen. Green light at top LEFT flashes when pump is running.

    19. If pump “beeps”, follow prompts on screen to troubleshoot problems. If unable to resolve problem or if you have questions, please call Infusion Nurse.

     

    REMEMBER!

    Flush unused lumen (pigtail) daily with 1 Saline syringe
