protocol : Perinatal Genetic Counselors, Laboratory Test Ordering Protocol

Genetic counselors are licensed clinicians who are credentialed to provide care to patients in the Medical Center within a defined scope of practice, which includes ordering laboratory tests on pregnant women, women being seen for preconception counseling or pregnancy loss counseling, and their reproductive partners. They are not classified as licensed independent practitioners by the Medical Center. This protocol provides the guidance and scope of practice for laboratory ordering without a separate LIP order.
