Objectives:
1. To illustrate that GABAergic anesthetics have targets outside of the central nervous system.
2. To illustrate the alteration of multiple physiological responses by GABAergic ligands in peripheral tissues.
3.To illustrate potential therapeutic targeting of peripheral GABAA receptors for diseases such as asthma and hypertension.
