Hosted by John Fu, PhD, Tamara Caspary, PhD is a Professor of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine.

The Caspary Lab work centers around the role of the primary cilium, the slender protrusion found on virtually all eukaryotic cells, including neurons and glia. Through mouse genetic screens, we have identified several genes enriched in cilia. We use a combination of genetic, molecular, and cell biological approaches to dissect apart the mechanisms through which signaling pathways are coupled to the primary cilium. Through these approaches, we are figuring out fundamentally novel aspects of neural development and disease.
