At the UVa Health System, we're concerned about the safety of your children. Because we want you to have the information necessary to raise your children in the safest, healthiest way possible, UVa Children's Hospital has joined the National Safe Kids Campaign as the Thomas Jefferson District sponsor. The National Safe Kids Campaign is the first and only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury -- the number one killer of children age 14 and under. Amazingly, nearly 90 percent of these unintentional injuries are preventable simply by observing Safe Kids safety guidelines. As a regional sponsor, UVa is raising community safety awareness to help prevent accidents and injuries. The holidays are once again upon us. And along with the merriment of the season comes heightened safety risks -- from fire, electrical and choking hazards indoors to ice and cold weather concerns outside.
