UVa Radiology Research is seeking female volunteers with an abnormal mammography finding for which follow up imaging has been recommended. This investigational study will test the ability of a newly developed breast imaging system to detect and characterize breast abnormalities. Unlike standard 2-dimensional mammography, images from the new system are 3-dimensional, and may better predict whether or not a detected abnormality is cancerous.
Eligible participants should have had an abnormal mammogram within the past 30 days, and must not be pregnant.
All imaging will be performed at no cost to participants. The study can be completed in one visit lasting less than a half an hour. This project is approved by the University of Virginia Human Investigations Committee (HIC #8825).
