UVa Health System Department of Radiology Research is currently seeking volunteers with severe chronic asthma for a research study investigating Hyperpolarized Helium-3 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to see how air moves through your lungs. The study can be completed in two visits. On both visits, participants will be tested at the Pulmonary Function Lab, then receive a He3 MRI of the lung, physical exam, spirometry, an EKG and lab tests. The second visit will also include CT and NVS scan of the lung after a 10 day course of oral steroids. All tests will be performed at no cost to participants.
Financial compensation will be provided.
