UVa Health System, Cancer Center seeks infants three months and younger with an adrenal tumor for a research study.
In this study, the researchers are learning about whether it is safe for babies to not have surgery to remove small adrenal tumors. The current standard treatment at UVa and most hospitals across the country is to surgically remove the tumor. In this study, instead of having surgery, the babys tumor would be closely monitored. Participants in the study, who elect to have the tumor followed rather than surgically removed, would have sonograms, CTs or MRIs, and blood tests for three years. Thereafter, the participants will be assessed with written questionnaires.
Participants who elect to have the tumors surgically removed may also qualify for this study.
No compensation is available for participation in this study.
