UVA Center for Addiction Research & Education (UVa C.A.R.E.) is the designated National Institute of Mental Health outreach partner for Virginia. Dr. Bankole Johnson, who heads UVa's department of Psychiatry, is a recognized leader in the field of addiction research, and UVA faculty are internationally known for innovative research into addition and the biological and behavioral aspects of addiction medicine.
