Discover how your daughter can participate in clinical research
We are seeking healthy normal weight and obese girls and adolescents to participate in clinical research studies
We are recruiting girls at all stages of puberty, 7-18 years old
We are recruiting girls with or without evidence of too much testosterone (for example, with or without excess facial hair)
We are recruiting girls with regular, irregular, or no periods (including girls who have not yet had their first period)
For more information, contact us at (434) 243-6911, or e-mail us at pcos@virginia.edu IRB-HSR# 13950
The overall goal of the Center for Research in Reproduction is to investigate a medical condition called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS affects about 7% of reproductive-aged women, and is associated with irregular periods, infertility, excess facial and body hair, obesity, and insulin resistance.
All of our research studies are approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Virginia (UVA) and are funded by the National Institutes of Health.
All studies take place in the General Clinical Research Center at UVA Hospital.
Compensation ranges from $75 - $400 (in Visa gift cards), depending in part on the complexity of the study.
Participating girls should not be taking hormonal medications.
