ReCardioversion in Afib Study (IRB #13790)
Purpose: To identify markers of fibrosis and inflammation that
correlate with recovery of atrial function following
cardioversion.
Patients: Symptomatic persistent AF for at least 2 undergoing
cardioversion (drugloading +/ electric cardioversion)
Exclusions: MRI contraindications (implanted devices,
claustrophobia), CHF w/ class IIIIV symptoms or LVEF <40%,
moderatesevere valvular disease, cancer or other inflammatory
states
Study: TTE, blood sample, and MRI at baseline and again at 4
weeks
