Breast Services at UVa

 

Active Clinics:

Breast Surgery: fine needle aspiration and core biopsy, breast conservation surgery, surgical biopsies, sentinel lymph node biopsy, ductal lavage, and lumpectomy/mastectomy with immediate or delayed breast reconstruction.

Breast Imaging:  Analog and Digital Mammography, Breast Ultrasound and MRI, Image guided core needle biopsies.    

Medical Oncology:  Management of breast cancer, unique treatments and innovative clinical trials.

Radiation Oncology:   Management of breast cancer, brachytherapy

Lymphadema: Management of lymphadema patients

High Risk Clinic:  Close follow up for patients who are at increased risk for developing breast cancer.  These patients are also offered access to breast screening trials and information about risk reduction

Genetic Counseling:  Testing for heritable breast cancer and counseled by knowledgeable, caring genetic specialists

 

Support staff and support services:

Full time patient educator

Support groups under the direction of a clinical psychologist

Tailored nutrition and exercise programs

Gentle Yoga and stress reduction classes

Breast Cancer Research:

Awarded more than $11 million for breast cancer research
