About the Service of Remembrance
The Children's Hospital Memorial Service has been held every year since 1995. Family members, physicians and staff share personal reflections on their work with the children. Artists from the Charlottesville area and the UVA School of Medicine provide the special music. Interfaith clergy offer prayers. Hospital chaplains read the names of children who have died within the last two years. As each child's name is read, family members are invited to come forward and place a flower on the Tree of Life. If you are unable to come to the service, you can place a flower on the Remembrance Tree - an online memorial.
