Inpatients

We offer diagnostic and therapeutic clinical services for pediatric inpatients across the Children’s Hospital including the Neonatal and Pediatric intensive care units.
Patients are referred to speech-language pathology for:
Any question of swallow safety link to VFSS/FEES
          - Children who have had neurosurgery or spinal cord injury
          - Children with head injury who are conscious and ready to begin oral feeds
          - Children with tracheostomies/vent dependency
Feeding refusal or poor oral intake
          - Children who have had cardiac surgery
          - Children with craniofacial anomalies, such as cleft palate
          - Children with gastro intestinal problems
          - Children with chronic lung disease
          - Premature infants with poor suck-swallow
Communication Problems
          - Children with brain injury from trauma or surgery who have difficulty with comprehension or expression
          - Children with tracheotomies/vent dependency who have no voice
          - Chronically hospitalized children at risk for developmental language delay
          - Children with articulation or language development issues
