Residency Application Requirements

University of Virginia Pharmacy Residency Application Requirements

 

All applicants must:

  • Be a graduate of an ACPE-accredited advanced pharmacy program
  • Be a licensed pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia by September 1

 

PGY2 applicants must:

  • Complete an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency

 

All applicants must upload the following application materials into PhORCAS by January 3:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Letter of intent
  • Three letters of recommendation †
  • Official college of pharmacy transcript

 

† The following items are suggested for inclusion in each letter of recommendation:

  • Insight into the candidate’s clinical skills, knowledge base, problem-solving, and personal attributes (i.e., ability to work with others, motivation, initiative)
  • Duration of time that they have known the applicant
  • Manner in which applicant is known (e.g., advisor, program director, preceptor)
  • Any special assets the candidate possesses
  • Any weaknesses which might hinder the applicant’s ability to perform effectively in a specialty residency program
