We offer a variety of opportunities.  With over 50 volunteer programs to choose from there is truly something for everyone.  The staff of Volunteer Services will help match your interests with the needs of the Medical Center.

Adult Volunteers

There are many opportunities for adult volunteers (aged 18 and above). Volunteers are needed for weekly shifts, substitutes, and for one-day special events. The staff of Volunteer Services will help you match your interests with our current openings. For more information, click here.

UVA Undergraduate Student Volunteers

Current UVA undergraduate students may apply to volunteer at the beginning of the academic year. A 50 hour minimum is required per semester.  The UVA Medical Center partners with Madison House, the student volunteer center at the University of Virginia to offer placements through the Medical Services (MedServices) Program. For more information, click here.

Junior Volunteers

The Junior Volunteer Program offers high school youth ages 14-18 an opportunity to volunteer in a variety of areas throughout the Medical Center.  Junior Volunteers (JVs) provide valuable service to patients, families, and staff, while gaining experience and self-confidence for themselves. This popular program is great way for teens to spend the summer. For more information, click here.

Summer Volunteers

Our Summer Volunteer Program is an intensive program for adults during the summer months of May – August. Individuals are expected to commit to 50 hours of volunteer service, typically 2 shifts per week, up to 8 hours. Your volunteering start and stop dates will be arranged individually and vacation trips can be accommodated in most cases.  Applications are accepted January-April. For more information click here.
What's Happening

Thursday, May 23: Auxiliary Annual Meeting & Luncheon 

Items Needed
  • Magazines - People, Sports Illustrated, Southern Living, children magazines, any general interest magazine that is less than 1 year. 
  • Travel size toiletries are needed for our Hospitality House guests.
  • Vases & small jars - Clean, clear small vases or small glass jars, free of labels to provide flowers for patients. No quart sized jars.  
  • Paperback Books - light subject paperback books for patients and family.
