The Patient Access Department, within the division of Medical Center Finance, has the responsibility of developing and overseeing the financial aspects of the access process, as well as establishing the patient demographic foundation for all other information systems throughout the Health System. An optimal revenue stream is the expected outcome of our Financial Patient Access process.
The "Financial Patient Access" process includes tasks related to:
- Insurance Verification
- Cash Collections
- Other "Front End Business" Functions, including various payor and governmental compliance issues
Studies of other successful health systems show it is essential to collect quality data when first scheduling and registering patients. The process of collecting information prior to the date of service allows the Health System to verify insurance data and initiate referrals and authorizations in a timely manner.
