Most recently, the University of Virginia Cancer Center successfully completed the first ever prospective clinical study at Selian Lutheran Hospital. This study investigated the feasibility of an inexpensive human papillomavirus (HPV) detection test in Northern Tanzania. Additionally, this study also genotyped high-risk HPV among females in this rural population, in an effort to determine future HPV vaccine efficacy. |
