Emergency Communications Center
The Medical Communication Center, located adjacent to the emergency department of the medical center, provides service to air and ground transports, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The communications specialists provide support to the Pegasus Critical Care Transport air and ground units, Medic V ALS (Advanced Life Support)/BLS (Basic Life Support) Ground Transportation, NETS (Newborn Emergency Transport Team) and the medical command component/transport reports for ALS/BLS transports into the medical center through the emergency department. Additionally, the communications specialists provide flight following for all transient aircraft and coordinates the traffic of the UVA Helipad.
