Leave Benefits

The Medical Center provides a number of leave programs to help meet the diverse needs of our employees.  A brief listing is provided below.  For detailed information click on the leave plan heading below to access the current policy (log-on required).  If you have questions once you have reviewed the policy, please contact the HR Customer Service Center at 243-3344.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Accrual rates vary based on date of hire and employment category. New full-time staff employees accrue PTO as follows:

PTO Leave Donation - employees may donate accrued PTO to another employee who needs additional leave due to a serious health condition, or to care for an immediate family member with a serious health condition.  See policy for details.  The PTO Donation form and PTO Donation Request form are available in the forms repository.

Short Term Disability

The Medical Center provides employer-paid income protection following 14 days of continuous disability.

Adoption/Child By Surrogate/Foster Care Placement Leave

The Medical Center provides up to three weeks of paid Adoption/Child By Surrogate/Foster Care Placement leave to eligible employees.

Bone Marrow/Organ Donation Leave

The Medical Center provides paid leave for up to 30 days for approved absences due to the donation of bone marrow and/or organs.

Bereavement Leave

The Medical Center provides full-time, part-time, flex staff and management employees with time off in the event of the death of an Immediate Family Member.

Personal or Educational Leave

The Medical Center provides leaves of absence with or without pay to eligible employees who wish to take time off from work duties to fulfill personal obligations, or to pursue course work that is applicable to their role with the Medical Center.

Medical Leave

The Medical Center may grant a medical leave of absence to employees who need to take time off from work duties due to personal illness or disability. This policy applies to employees who are not eligible for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or who have exhausted their rights under FMLA.

Workers' Compensation Leave

The Medical Center provides paid leave for absences which result from an injury or occupational disease entitled to benefits under the Workers' Compensation Act.

Public Service Leave

The Medical Center provides up to 8 hours of paid Public Service Leave per calendar year for approved absences to attend school functions or perform volunteer work for an eligible Service Organization.

Military Leave

The Medical Center shall grant a military leave of absence to employees who are absent from work for active duty or military training in the Uniformed Services in accordance with federal and state law.

Public Health Threat Emergency Leave

The Medical Center protects the health of Medical Center employees and the public while providing continuity of services during times of pandemic illness or communicable disease outbreak.

Administrative Leave

The Medical Center provides eligible employees with time off with pay for a variety of approved absences, such as jury service, pending completion of investigation for alleged misconduct, attempting resolution of a work-related problem, furlough for infection control issues, etc.

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

The Medical Center grants up to 12 work weeks of family and medical leave of absence during any 12-month period in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) to eligible employees.
