February 2010 Meeting Minutes

Date:  February 18, 2010

Time:  10:00 am

Place:  McKim Hall, VP Conference Room 3001

Representatives in Attendance:  Johy Betts, Leslie Yowell, Mike Wilson, June Wade, Nancy Kriigel, Ruth Dudley, Della Marsh, Monique Collins Carey, Lynn McCutcheon, Cathy Pasternak, Lynn McCutcheon and Shae Berghuis

I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Johy Betts.

II. Reports: Beth Van Hook announced the "Fiscally Fit Fair" to be held on March 31 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Representatives from VRS, Fidelity, Vanguard and UVA HR will be in attendance to provide responsible financial planning information and to answer questions.

III. Guest Speaker: Caroline Walters, University Records Officer

Caroline gave a presentation on Records Management.  She instructed council members on proper records retention and destruction.  All of the information provided in her presentation can be found on their website, www.virginia.edu/recordsmanagement/.

Any questions on whether it is time to dispose of records and the proper way to record their destruction, please direct them to Caroline, 243-9162 or email, records@virginia.edu.  You can even schedule a site visit to your office or storage.
