I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Johy Betts.

II. Reports:

University Human Resources - Beth Reinhard reminded us of the upcoming service award ceremonies:

Service Award Dates:  Friday, May 29, 2009, 1:30-3:30pm at John Paul Jones Arena for those celebrating 10, 15 and 20 years of service.  Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 5:30-8:30pm at Boar's Head Inn Pavilion for those celebrating 25-50 years of service.

III. Guest Speakers: Sarah Collie, Assistant Vice President for Management and Budget and Director, State Governmental Relations and Melody Bianchetto, Assistant Vice President for Budget and Financial Planning

Mission Statement

The Office of State Governmental Relations, through the Assistant Vice President for Management and Budget and the President's Executive Assistants for State Governmental Relations, monitors legislative issues and activities in Richmond and communicates information to appropriate University officials. The staff is committed to informing the University community as it relates to key legislative issues that may be of interest and impact.

The Office of State Governmental Relations

  • represents the University's position on state governmental issues to state officials
  • monitors and tracks legislative and state activities during the General Assembly session
  • communicates information to University officials and the community on significant state and legislative matters
  • educates the University community about state relations

Also on the website is a link to the 2009 session legislative and budget reports in addition to executive orders issued by the Governor.
