Meeting Minutes

I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Johy Betts.

II. Reports:

University Human Resources - Beth Reinhard couldn't attend this meeting so Johy Betts gave her report.  A memo from Human Resources is forthcoming regarding Annual Performance Evaluations.  Performance reviews for 2006-2007 are due to UVA Human Resources by October 12, 2007.  There will be an Employee Resource Fair in November 2007.  You can find additional Human Resources information under "News, Announcements and Memos" at http://www.hrs.virginia.edu/.

Provost Office -John Teahan reported that there are two positions open in the Provost Office - one staff position and one faculty position.  See UVAjob@virginia.edu for additional information.

Ombudsman/ADA Coordinator -No report.

III. Guest Speaker:

 

Cheryl Pietrzyk, RN, UVA WorkMed
UVA Employee Health use to be located in Hospital West and they served the academic division and Medical Center employees but it split into two groups in July 2003.

UVA WorkMed is located at 545 Ray C. Hunt Drive at the Fontaine Research Center and it serves the occupational health needs of University of Virginia academic division employees (Agency 207), HSF employees and privately contracted companies.  They also treat Medical Center employees who sustain injuries that occur on the job.

UVA Employee Health is located at 1222 Jefferson Park Avenue and it serves the Medical Center employees (Agency 209), medical residents, contractual Nutrition Services, and contractual Environmental services and all other Medical Center contract workers.

UVA WorkMed provides the following services:  immunizations, drug and alcohol screening, tuberculosis screening, pre-hire/annual physicals (including OSHA surveillance and evaluation), animal research/exposure surveillance, blood/body flue exposure management, medical management of worksite injury, environmental/infectious disease exposure treatment independent medical evaluations, and fitness for duty assessments.  They provide Wellness programs to improve the risk factors contributing to illness and injury through preventative education and health screenings.  They are experienced in the medical management worker's compensative cases, expediting access to UVA specialists from injury and facilitating the employee's return to work.

UVA WorkMed also provides services to the local fire departments, police, school bus drivers and about 30 private businesses in Charlottesville and surrounding areas. IV. New Business:  Becca White from Parking and Transportation will be our guest speaker at the September meeting.  Please try to have questions to Johy Betts for Ms. White prior to the next meeting.

V.  Old Business:  HSF parking question to Leonard Sandridge at the July2007 meeting still needs to be addressed.
