I. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by Johy Betts.
II. Reports: Provost Office - Anda Webb announced that the new Provost, Arthur Garson, formerly the Dean of the School of Medicine, will assume his new position on July 1. Sharon Hostler will be the Interim Dean for the School of Medicine. Bob Pionta, the new Dean of the Curry School, will assume his new roll on July 1. The position of Dean in the School of Arts and Sciences is still pending.
Human Resources - Beth Reinhard explained that the Human Resources Restructuring survey will be available until the end of July. If any employee did not receive the survey, she asks that they please contact human resources. She announced that employees with 10, 15, and 20 years of service will receive their service awards on May 22 in Newcomb Hall. A ceremony to give service awards for employees with 25 plus years of service will be held on the Lawn near Peabody Hall.
III. Guest Speaker: Emily Bardeen, Director of Faculty and Staff Career Services, could not attend.
New Business: Leonard Sandridge, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, will visit with council during July's meeting. Representatives are asked to prepare items for discussion ahead of time so Leonard can address them at the meeting.
Old Business: Parking issues persist. This will be one item for discussion when Leonard Sandridge attends our council meeting in July. We are interested in learning how parking garages are financed. Also, we would like to know where the Provost Employee Council is with their bench marking survey. The survey will determine whether parking should be set per your position. Ideas circulated in the meeting including a suggestion from council representative, Keith Johnson that a parking lot be built further out, perhaps, at the Blue Ridge Sanitarium, where employees could then be shuttled in to the university area.
