III. Guest Speaker: Anne Broccoli, Assistant Director, Office of University Benefits

Anne was invited to speak regarding Open Enrollment (11/6-12/1).  She mentioned that all employees would be receiving an email to let them know about open enrollment dates and changes to the health plan.  A few of the changes are outlined here:  There is a new mental health vendor.  Employees who utilize mental health services will receive a letter in the next six months regarding the changes.  The letter will instruct employees on what to do in order to continue to receive services.  There will be a 4% increase in premiums for the High Premium health plan.  Co-pays for brand name drugs have increased a few dollars while the generic remains at $9.  Dental benefits have increased to $1500 from $1000.  Anne asks that employees visit the Human Resources website to compare the two elective health plans.  The PowerPoint presentation will be available for review on November 3.  Employees who have elected the flexible spending account will receive an email regarding online enrollment.  Anne also reminds representatives that this is a good time to drop ineligible participants.

IV. New Business: Representatives discussed ways to increase council attendance. Improvements to the website, gift certificates, parking vouchers, and discounts for Charlottesville area businesses were mentioned as incentives.
