I. CALL TO ORDER

Meeting was called to order at 10:00am by Della Marsh since Johy Betts and Terry Bennett were unable to attend.

II. REPORTS

        A.    Provost Office - Chris Loss -- no report

        B.    Employee Relations - No representative attended- no report

        C.    EOP - No representative attended- no report

III. GUEST SPEAKER: Michael Kidd, UVA Human Resources Office of Learning and Development

Mr. Kidd was invited to talk about writing workshops that he instructs and offers for UVA employees to take.  The workshops are:  (1) Effective Writing for Real People; (2) Effective Writing for the Web; and  (3) Grammar Goes to Work.  There are no set dates yet, but if you are interested in participating in one of these workshops, please contact Mr. Kidd at 243-7185 or mkidd@virginia.edu.  The cost is $75.00 per person and the workshops are held at the Old Ivy Building.  If there is enough departmental interest in any of the workshops, he would come to your place of work.  The link to the course announcements is https://list.mail.virginia.edu/mailman/listinfo/kidd-writing-announce.   Members may sign up to receive an email announcement as soon as one of the courses is posted to the Training and Development site (probably no more than 3-6 emails per year).  Several representatives have attended at least one of these workshops and they were very complimentary of them.  If you would like a copy of the handout that he distributed, please contact Della Marsh at djm@virginia.edu.

None to report.  Tammy Snow is interested in knowing which members are currently serving on committees that are suppose to have representatives from this group.
