Health System Academic & Research Employee Council meeting minutes from March 17, 2005


The Employee Council meeting went on as scheduled this 17th day of March. 

The meeting was called to order by Helen Norfleet-Shiflett, council co-chair.

Becky Campbell from the Uva Police Department was the guest speaker.

Becky started the meeting by discussing crime prevention tips and the latest information on the serial rapist which has affected the central Virginia community. Walking with another person and being aware of your surroundings are two important safety tips to follow. The Uva Police Department is educating the student body about the serial rapist and the safety precautions they should take. Larceny is the biggest crime at Uva. Becky urges everyone to lock up their valuables at work and not leave them visible for someone to see. Jackie Cooke from Employee Relations spoke of the New Employee Resource Fair to be held April 19, 2005 in the Newcomb Hall ballroom. This fair is for new employees or any employee who is interested to come and see what is available to them as an employee of the University. The employee council will be one of the groups represented at the fair.

There was no new business.

In old business all of the Employee Council websites are being updated and the council brochure is in the process of being printed.

There were no committee reports.
