Health System Academic & Research Employee Council meeting January 15th, 2004
The Employee Council meeting went on as scheduled this 15th day of January.
The meeting was called to order by Helen Norfleet-Shiflett, council co-chair.
Nancy Rivers from the Vice Presidents Office and Mark Fletcher from the General Security and Safety Committee were the guest speakers. Nancy started the meeting by talking about the General Assembly session that is going on from January 14th through March 13, 2004 and how it affects the University. To find out more details about this you can go to http://www.virginia.edu/governmentalrelations/ . Mark Fletcher spoke about the concerns that people submitted to the last meeting about safety. Mark stated that most of these concerns have already been brought to the committee’s attention. The General Safety and Security Committee helps to correct unsafe and unsecured areas around the University. In order to find out these areas the Committee takes both day and night walks during the year to look for these areas. If you have any questions or concerns you can e-mail Mark at email@example.com and he will be able to answer your question or direct it to the right person. The Provost Office reported that they were beginning the budget process.
There was no new business.
There were no committee reports.
In old business the holiday donation drive to needy families went well. This year there was a large amount of families receiving assistance. This made it more difficult than in years past. Some families had trouble picking up their donations. It was brought up for next year to limit the number of families and to have a designated person deliver the donations if the family does not show up. Lolita Bland was very helpful in she delivered all of the donations to families who did not come to pick up their donations, so Kudos goes out to her!
December minutes were approved.
The meeting was adjourned.
