Meeting minutes from Health System Academic & Research Employee Council from October 21, 2004

The Employee Council meeting went on as scheduled this 21st day of October. 

The meeting was called to order by Helen Norfleet-Shiflett, council co-chair.

Linda Way-Smith and Anne Broccoli, from the Benefits Office were the guest speakers. Linda and Anne started the meeting by discussing open enrollment that is effective November 1-December 3, 2004. During open enrollment employees can do anything from add and drop persons from their health plan to switch to a different premium. In addition there are a few changes coming to the health plan this coming year. They include name changes for each premium. Direct Access will now be called the Low Premium and the Point of Service will be called the High Premium. Also, the cost of each health premium will change effective 1/1/05. In new business the Safety and Security Committee is looking for a representative from Employee Council. The committee meets one a month. If you are interested please contact Megan Lowe at amk7k@virginia.edu for more details. It is that time again where names are being taken for needy families this holiday season. This year four families will be picked to receive assistance. Please bring names of needy families to the November meeting where more information will be given out.

In old business the August and September minutes were approved.
