December

Minutes from the Health System Academic & Research Employee Council from December 18th, 2003

The Employee Council meeting went on as scheduled this 18th day of December.

The meeting was called to order by Helen Norfleet-Shiflett, council co-chair.

There were no guest speakers. The safety around the University and the streets surrounding the University was the focus of this meeting. Written concerns from employees were brought to the meeting for council members to discuss in order to write a letter to Leonard Sandridge to present to the City Council. Debbie Gausvik from Human Resources was at the meeting and mentioned she was on the Security and General Safety Committee and would take the written concerns to their next meeting to present them to the Committee and see what they can do before we send a letter to City Council. Some of the main concerns were pedestrian crosswalks, timing of traffic lights, jay walking and speeding. Debbie also reported that the benefits office had good turn out for employees returning the Benefits Election form on time. Few people did not return the form and therefore defaulted to the Direct Access Program.

In Old Business the holiday donations were being collected on December 19th at the hospital loading dock. The donations were distributed to the families that afternoon.

There was no new business.

There were no committee reports.

November minutes were approved.

The meeting was adjourned.
