HSAREC Minutes from October, 2003
The Employee Council meeting went on as scheduled this 16th day of October.
The meeting was called to order by Helen Norfleet-Shiflett, council co-chair.
Virginia Evans, Assistant Vice President of Integrated Systems Deployment and Support (ISDS), was the guest speaker. ISDS is the transition from Project to Deployment and Production to Support. Evans discussed the changes that will be taking place with the new title. Internally the organization will see changes in streamlining internal and external policies and processes, along with structure, the Director and system usability. The location of ISP originally was at Ivy Road; now as ISDS it is moving to Michie North as of October 24th 2003, to be closer to its users, like human resources, end users, central offices and ITC. The focus of the next two to three years for ISDS will be system usability, 11i technical upgrade, 11i functional upgrades, reporting environment and student system assistance. The technical and functional upgrades for 11i will be learning from group meetings, like Fiscal Administrators, HR User Group and SOM Administrators. In addition, the opportunity for self service for time entry, viewing earnings statement and viewing and changing personal information. For the 11i conversion there will be additional training and one on one workshop available for users to enroll in. More information on this will be distributed at a further date by ISDS. Helen Norfleet-Shiflett addressed the structure of the council for the year 2004 at the September meeting, and council members discussed opinions that they received back from their departments, and it was agreed on to have the employee council continue in the same format. Refreshments were provided at this meeting to make it more inviting for the representatives that attended. Lolita Bland brought up the holiday families and wanted the council to start suggesting names of families to her that we can assist this year in our holiday family drive. In New Business Anda Webb from the Provost Office discussed the recent October Board of Visitors meeting and the additional compensation for Faculty and Staff. For exceptions and further details about the recent Board of Visitors meeting go to the Board of Visitors website at www.virginia.edu/bov/ The new health benefit options that are coming for University employees was brought up for discussion in new business. Employees will have to choose from one of the plans offered under the new health benefits. You will be receiving additional information in the near future in regards to this. Uva benefits are going to make sure that everyone has ample information on this new change. In Committee Reports the housekeeping committee brought up the latest on the trash collection situation in Jordan Hall. Some areas of Jordan Hall are having problems with not having there trash collected and it is causing problems in the labs and offices. There is no new development from this committee.
In Old Business the ACAC corporate membership was brought up for questioning as to whether there was any new development in Uva getting a corporate membership with ACAC and currently they are trying to work out a way for direct deduction from monthly pay. More information will come when more develops.
