The Hospital Education Program (HEP) is dedicated to providing a variety of experiences that help normalize the hospital stay for children and their families at the University of Virginia Children's Hospital. Just as public schools may enhance the educational experience by providing special guest speakers and performers, pediatric patients may also choose to enjoy visits from local educators, artists, or entertainers. In addition, the University of Virginia Department of Athletics works directly with the HEP to coordinate regular team visits with pediatric patients.
Special events offered through the HEP benefit from the time, talents, and other resources contributed by members of the University community and local residents. Individuals interested in volunteering at the University of Virginia Children's Hospital should contact the Office of Volunteer Services at (434) 924-5251.
All HEP services are free to children and their families. For additional information, contact (434) 924-2658.
