Clinic Revenue Cycle
The Clinic Revenue Cycle (CRC) is the process of charge capture in the provider-based entities of the UVa Health System. There are two essential CRC functions:
- Appropriately capture charges for all services rendered in the provider-based entities; and
- Look for revenue opportunities through better coding, better processes or better communication.
The CRC works very closely with the UVa School of Medicine, the TES (Transaction Editing System) Administrator and the HSF Business Office to enhance our use of charge suspense systems and refine processes. Once transaction-level information passes from TES to the UVa Medical Center, Computing Services provides support to the CRC and patient accounting/Patient Financial Services.
Using the charge routing feature of TES, departments are able to key charges for the physician and hospital, very often in the same transaction. Using a set of variables in the IDX system, we can identify when a particular area bills hospital charges through TES and route those charges appropriately. Another program, outside of TES, receives the transaction information and processes charges according to the UVa Medical Center's contractual relationships
If you have any questions regarding CRC process, TES or charge routing, please contact Terrence LaRosa.
