Coding Services
The Coding Services Department Staff of the UVA Health System is
committed to ethical and legal business and will make every effort, in
conjunction with the Health System Corporate Compliance Plan, to comply
with federal and state statues and regulations, private payer policies,
official coding rules and guidelines, and the accepted standards for
appropriate clinical documentation practices. Coding Services Coding
Professionals are committed to developing internal polices and
procedures that are consistent with reimbursement regulations and
policies and official coding rules and guidelines.
Coding Services coding professionals value health information of the
high-test quality, as evidenced by its integrity, accuracy,
consistency, reliability, and validity. Coding Services coding
professionals demonstrate behaviors that reflect integrity,
objectivity, and trust in professional activities and refuse to
participate in or conceal illegal or unethical acts. Coding Services
coding professionals believe that collaboration and cooperation among
healthcare practitioners and those using health information are
essential to ensuring high quality health information and accurate
claims submission. Coding Services coding staff respects the
confidentiality of health information.
