Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Info
(Note: Updated as of Fall 2013 programs)
The traineeship schedule meets the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) guidelines to provide 28 CPE hours for Registered Dietitians (RDs) for the full session. Note that CDR no longer requires pre-approval of programs for CPE. Please check to see if your state, country or local area has additional requirements regarding pre-approval of programs. Please refer to your Professional Development Portfolio manual or contact us with any questions.
The 2013 Nutrition Support Traineeship manual provided with the program has been approved by CDR to provide an additional 10 hours of self-study CPE for RDs.
Total CPEs available for RDs: 38 CPE hours
Please note that nutrition support clinicians other than Registered Dietitians are welcome to participate in the program, however, we are unable to provide continuing education credits for other disciplines.
The Traineeship is for clinical practitioners who work in nutrition support, and are interested in expanding their practice horizons and expertise. Participants should have a basic knowledge and understanding of both enteral and parenteral nutrition support. There are no absolute entry criteria except enthusiasm for nutrition support, and a thirst for knowledge, but practitioners should have 1-2 years of clinical nutrition support experience to get maximum benefit from the traineeship.
