Joe Krenitsky, MS, RD

Join us for our upcoming webinar:

The Role of Fiber in Nutrition Support

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013, 1:00 - 2:00 PM

Speaker:  Joe Krenitsky, MS, RD

This webinar will examine the role of fiber, and the lack of fiber, in patients that require nutrition support.  Does the lack of fiber in enteral feeding predispose patients to diarrhea?  Are there patients or clinical scenarios where fiber might be contraindicated?  What type (s) of fiber are best for regulation of bowel function?  How much of an effect does the fiber in enteral feedings have on blood glucose?

Learning Objectives:  The participant will be able to:

1.     Discuss the incidence and causes of diarrhea in patients receiving enteral nutrition support.

2.     Understand the effect of different types of fiber on stool frequency and diarrhea.

3.     Review clinical scenarios where the addition of fiber to the diet or enteral feedings may not be desirable.

4.     Discuss components and types of dietary fiber that may compromise enteral feeding tolerance.
