Nutrition Support Blog: Anniversary Edition
September 9, 2011
We have now passed the two month anniversary of the existence of our Nutrition Support Blog. Yes, I know--celebrating a 2 month anniversary seems like a rather dubious accomplishment, more appropriate to describe a “tweens” dating experience. However, our previous experience several years ago with free access to the content of our website was rather brief. Suffice it to say that I have learned that “University hospital websites are not to be used as a forum for my sense of humor,” and you won’t be seeing any attempts to add levity to the website (not a Peep from me), even on April 1st . Clearly the world has changed from when none other than the father of modern medicine, Sir William Osler, would play practical jokes and send fabricated and “colorful” case reports to be published in medical journals under the pseudonym of Dr. Egerton Yorrick Davis. Incidentally, if you have never read about the life and times of Sir William, I recommend that you put his name into your favorite search engine and read just a bit about his accomplishments. Amazing stuff.
We have received some great feedback about the blog, and I really appreciate the encouragement. Thank you also for sharing our blog and website with other colleagues. Clearly there are a great number of practitioners that favor the idea of a Clinical Nutrition Practitioner and are willing to lend support to moving that idea forward. I was also pleased to learn more about some of the efforts already underway for advanced practice degrees and practice. We are still discussing how we can best do something positive in that regard, and hope to come back to that topic on the blog in the future.
We welcome any questions, disagreements, criticism or corrections about our blog, because real learning and progress generally develop when one is challenged. In the near future, we hope to be able to post these comments directly on the blog site. Hopefully, we will continue to improve the site and keep providing useful information in a readable and entertaining way (but not so entertaining that we won’t have a one year anniversary...).
“Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious.”
