Bariatric Surgery Nutrition
Purpose of Clinic Services:
- To assist patients with nutrition needs before and after bariatric surgery
- To maximize weight loss and minimize nutritional deficiencies for post-surgery patients.
Role of the Clinical Nutritionist:
- To provide informational seminars on bariatric nutrition to people considering weight loss surgery including gastric bypass, gastric band and gastric sleeve
- To provide nutritional counseling for bariatric surgery patients at all initial and follow-up appointments
- To help facilitate the Lighter than Life Bariatric Surgery Support Group
Treatment Goals:
- Optimize weight loss
- Maintain nutritional status during and after weight loss
- Provide support and guidance through the Bariatric Surgery Support Group
