Research study for those who have had knee injury or surgery

The Effects of Laser Therapy on Quadriceps Neuromuscular Function in Patients with a History of Knee Injury

Hart Joseph, M

The UVA Exercise and Sports Injury Laboratory is seeking men and women between the ages of 18-50 years who have had a knee injury or surgery (ie. ligament, ACL, meniscus, cartilage). The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of a single treatment of laser light therapy on thigh muscle function in these patients. Participation involves one lab visit that lasts about 2.0 hours and involves assessments of quadriceps muscle function and either a laser therapy treatment or a sham therapy treatment. Participants who meet criteria for inclusion and complete the study procedures will receive $25.00 compensation.
