Prospective surveillance of surgical site infeciton in patients undergoing colon and rectal surgery

The purpose of this study is to allow researchers at the University of Virginia to develop better ways of preventing and treating infections after bowel or rectal surgery. The study involves observing, assessing and taking pictures of your surgical incision every other day during your hospital stay and at your regularly scheduled clinic visits.
