UVa Endocrinology invites adults over 30 years old with Type 2 diabetes, who have had a heart attack in the last 6 months to be part of a research study. The purpose of the study is to see is to see if this experimental drug is effective at preventing cardiovascular events such as a heart attack in patients with type 2 diabetes. The study involves taking a daily injection experimental medicine, blood draws, EKGs as well as coming into clinic every 6 weeks for 45 minutes for a 2 year duration. ? Study-related exams, blood tests and experimental medication are provided free of charge. ? Compensation for study completion is $350.
