UVa Health System, Department of Radiology seeks men and women at least 18 years of age whose doctor believes they are at risk for developing a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot that travels to the lungs) and are scheduled to have a vena cava filter placed. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the B. Braun VenaTech Convertible Vena Cava Filter. The study requires the placement of an investigational vena cava filter instead of the filter commonly used as part of standard of care. The investigational filter is provided at no cost. Your participation in this study will last up to a year and will involve at least 2 visits. ? Study-related x-rays and ultrasounds are provided free of charge. ? You may receive a maximum of $500 for participation if you complete all of the required visits.
