Women and Men ages 18 and older needed for MRI study.
MR Perfusion imaging in Healthy Normal Subjects and in Subjects with Lung Disease
UVa Health System, Department of Radiology, seeks women and men ages 18 and older with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary artery hypertension, smoking or other lung disease for research studies. The purpose of these studies is to look at how the air moves in the lungs using inhaled hyperpolarized xenon or helium gas with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The studies involve spirometry and a physical exam along with the MRI with inhaled xenon or helium and can be completed in one 2-4 hour visit. § Study-related MRI, spirometry, and xenon and helium gas are provided free of charge. § Compensation for study completion is $50.00 - $100.00.
