Altes Talissa,
UVa Health System, Radiology Research seeks adults ages 18 and older with asthma for a research study. The purpose of the study is to test the effect of 2 different bronchodilators. Participants will receive different doses of albuterol and/or foradil, and then pictures of how the lungs respond to the medications will be taken using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with helium gas and intravenous (IV) contrast. The study also involves spirometry, physical exam, finger stick, There are 4 study visits required. The first visit is an albuterol screening visit and lasts about an hour. If you qualify for the study, there are 3 visits that occur over a 10 day period, each visit lasting 3-5 hours in two imaging sessions per day. ? Study-related spirometry, physical exam, bronchodilator, IV contrast, fingerstick, and MRI with helium and IV contrast provided free of change. ? Compensation for study completion is $600.00; divided in 3 payments of $200.00 on each of the 3 imaging days Contact Information: For more information please contact: o Joanne Gersbach, RN, CCRC o Phone: 434-243-6074; email: jcg4j@virginia.edu o IRB HSR # 15323 Principal Investigator: Talissa Altes, MD
