Volunteers are needed for a study about asthma and the common cold. Previously (since 1989), students with mild asthma have participated in similar cold studies at the University of Virginia. For this study, you must have mild asthma (using an albuterol inhaler intermittently when needed). You must also be between 18 and 40 years old, and cannot have a history of smoking. • Screening is on-going and involves 2 visits ($40 will be paid for the 1st visit; $60 for the 2nd). (IRB-HSR# 12656) • Those who qualify will be eligible to enroll in this study (IRB HSR # 14427). The study covers a period of 12 weeks and will start the semester after you complete the screening visits (during the spring or fall). Participants will be compensated $1870 for completing the study. • This study is being conducted by the UVA Asthma and Allergic Diseases Center.
