Charge

The Health Information Management Subcommittee is charged with the evaluation and improvement of patient care through the recommendation, development and approval of policies and procedures to ensure that medical records are complete, timely, and clinically pertinent. The committee reviews Clinical Staff and Health System Policies and rules and regulations relating to medical records completion, formats, filing, storage, retention, and availability and recommends methods of implementation.

The HIS Committee addresses these issues at the institutional, Clinical Staff and Health Information Services levels.

Monitoring and reporting adherence to established standards of the Health Information (HIS) Department Quality Plan and quality plans at other areas of the Health System is a key committee activity.  In addition, the committee has oversight for the organization's ongoing medical records review program.  As part of the medical record review function, the committee analyzes results and takes appropriate action to address areas for improved performance and communicates the results and actions to administration, oversight committees and clinical staff, as appropriate.

In addition, the committee has oversight for the Documentation/Forms and Access and Confidentiality  Sub-Committees. 

Meetings: Fourth Tuesday of each month except August and December.
