Parent Group

The Parent Group was created for parents of children at the UVA Malcolm W. Cole Child Care Center.  The purpose of the group is to come together once a month and review plans, ask questions, to hear updates, receive the treasurer's report, and plan fundraisers.

We try to schedule the meetings on a quarterly basis in the afternoon at the center in the Multipurpose Room.  Each meeting is lead by the President with an agenda that is usually emailed to the parents before the meeting.  The group also keeps minutes and then distributes them via email to all the parents.  This allows the parents who cannot come to the meeting remain informed about the Parent Group plans and the updates regarding the Center.  The Parent Group will post the minutes on the Parent Group bulletin board.

The Parent Group is responsible for planning and organizing the yearly fundraisers such as the Spring Picnic, the Holiday Dinner for the staff, Fall and Spring pictures, Original Works, Spring Bulbs, assisting with the Week of the Young Child, and more.

Each month parents are encouraged to sign up and bring special treats for the staff.  The parents typically bring breakfast treats, snacks, or lunch.  This monthly Staff Appreciation Sign-Up is on the bulletin board at the front door.  The staff is very grateful for this monthly treat.
