UVa Health System, Obstetrics and Gynecology; Gynecologic Oncology seeks Women ages 18 or older with ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal carcinoma that cannot be cured by surgery alone for research study.

The purpose of the study is to test the safety of giving chemotherapy by vein (intravenous) and into the abdomen (intraperitoneal) on the same day, followed by a third dose of chemotherapy given one week later into the abdomen. We want to find out what effect it has on you and on your type of cancer. Study involves physical examinations, pelvic exams, blood tests, pregnancy tests if of childbearing potential, urinalysis, X-ray or CT scans, and hearing tests if necessary. You will receive treatment on day one (8 hour visit) and day eight (4 hour visit) every 21 days in this study. This 21 day period of time is called a cycle. The cycle will be repeated a total of six times. You will receive a total of 18 weeks of study treatment or as long as there is evidence that your tumor is not growing and you are not experiencing any unacceptable side effects.

Participant's insurance company will need to pay for all of the costs of cancer treatment in this study, including the cost of managing the side effects of therapy. Some health plans will not pay these costs for people taking part in studies. Check with your health plan or insurance company to find out what they will pay for. Patient will be responsible for paying any deductibles, coinsurance, and co-payments as required under the terms of the patient's insurance plan(s).

No compensation is provided for this study.
