Departmental Web ManagersDepartmental Web Managers are individuals identified by their department, division, or center to create and maintain the organization's Web site (Internet or Intranet). In this role, the DWM is the key ingredient to the overall success of the HS Web since they are the providers of the information upon which the HS Web is structured. There are currently over 200 DWMs who contribute to the overall development of the HS Web site. DWMs meet with their respective departments to assess the types of information that they would like to make available from their Web site. Once these priorities are established, DWMs familiarize themselves with the HS online toolkit, and specifically the HS policies and guidelines, gather and author content using acceptable HTML standards, and most importantly maintain their departmental Web site once it is established. DWMs work closely with the Web Development Center to ensure HS Web standards are met, and proper linkages are established to tie the departmental Web site to the broader HS Web. DWM's also benefit from the ongoing support of the HS Web Development team as well as other identified resources inside and outside UVa, such as classes and special interest groups.
