VolunteerUVaHealth.org is a website that allows UVa Health System employees to create a volunteer profile and sign-up for volunteer opportunities online based on their interests.
Who is the website for? How can they sign up?
The website is intended to serve two audiences - volunteers and community partners. UVa Health System employees interested in volunteering can visit VolunteerUVaHealth.org and click on the link to Volunteer site. There, they can create an account and view the many opportunities to volunteer.
Community partners are those organizations which Community Outreach has identified as a partner in working towards a better community. Organizations, both inside and outside the University community that are interested in hosting UVa volunteers, will have the opportunity to create an organizational profile and post volunteer opportunities. (Only Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign participants are eligible to join VolunteerUVaHealth.org)
The opportunities posted on VolunteerUVaHealth.org are only accessible by Health System staff. This gives our community partners the distinct benefit of having access to a large pool of talented UVa volunteers. If organizations desire a broader reach and wish to use the 1-800-Volunteer network, they need to contact their local volunteer center.

What are the benefits of VolunteerUVaHealth.org?
While the benefits of volunteering are often hard to list completely, there are a few specific benefits to UVa employees. Employees will benefit from using an online database to search for opportunities, many from the local United Way - Thomas Jefferson Area volunteer center. Searches can be tailored to match the volunteer's interests and organizations needs.
VolunteerUVaHealth also provides a centralized place to sign up for signature programs such as RAM. In addition, employees who choose to volunteer above and beyond their eight hours of paid volunteer time will be rewarded with recognition and goodies through our volunteer recognition program.

Everyday many UVa employees are volunteering through their own churches, schools and community non-profits. The volunteer website is designed to serve as a "meeting place" for organizations in need of volunteers and for volunteers looking to offer their talents, sometimes in a new and different way. Through its ability to serve as both a toolkit and database, the website will encourage volunteerism and provide valuable feedback as to the positive impact UVa employees have on the greater community.
